Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like we'll only be away overnight now, definately want to see the birds. Our friends have a property about 30kms from town so hopefully we'll get to see St. George at some stage.

I grew up there, and my parents still live there - they almost certainly know your friends too!
St.George has gone ahead in the last few years - lots of new houses etc and one of the few country towns doing so these days.
As for what to do and see, I'm a little behind the times, but could certainly find out anything you want to know. Depends what you're into really - they have the winery or two like everywhere these days etc. I'm always interested in the cotton, and the gin can be interesting if they allow tours these days. Very poor crop this year, but they would have just picked, so might be some operation.
The Beardmore Dam is full now, thanks to some good rain up Roma way the other week. Very dry still generally. Enjoy the trip.

We are just back from St George. We had a fantastic time and as it turns out we had so much to do on our friend's property we didn't get time to see much else. Maybe next time!
