As per the report of three days ago the section from Wiluna to Well 5 is closed. See the TrekNote Site Link and click the Road Conditions link (in the box near the top) it will show you the status of each section of the trek and give as much information as currently available to us. We have been on the phone to Wiluna in the last few days to get this info. I will also get our Road Conditions coordinator to have a look again to try to find any more info but this is from the horses mouth a few days ago.

Another idea would be to call Gunbarrel Groceries (tomorrow) see Site Link for their contact info - it is also listed at the bottom of the trek note. If you get more info than our report please let us know.

Hi All
See Post 45536 Yesterday
Gillian from Gunbarrel Laager Wiluna, Had the following info re current conditions on CSR
16/05/07
"2 Landcruisers .. travelled from Halls Creek to Wiluna and stayed here for 2 days, departing today, (16 May) for the Gunbarrel Hwy. The track was quite good and dry and they left the CSR at Well 5 for Granite Peak as the lower end (Well 5 to Wiluna) will be closed probably for another 2 weeks unless there is more rain.
The wildflowers are magnificent, although it's too early for Kangaroo Paws.
Travellers coming across from Carnegie Station to Wiluna have had no problems on the road to Wiluna."

Keep an eye on our Road Conditions report as those areas are updated usually as soon as info is available or conditions change.

All feedback welcome

cheers
The Road Conditions Coordinator

Balgo at this end has had a bit of rain. Has only made it a tad sticky at the moment.

Thanks Squizzy,
Your end is the the part of the CSR we often have difficulty getting latest updates on.
Any info is much appreciated.

If you want to you can message or email me at info@exploroz.com if you have any reliable reports.

cheers

Just came off the csr last Friday 8th of June @ halls creek end, Track is in good condition Sand dunes firm, corrugations not too bad if driven on around 30 to 40 kmh. We came on @ well 23 but friends started @ Wiluna they bypassed the first 5 wells due to road closure but I believe the road is open now.

Not trying to teach any old dogs new tricks

BUT

If the signs or the Shire Council say "Road Closed" that IS what it means.
It is an offence to drive on closed roads in WA.

In WA the fines can be fairly large, and the Legislation also has a provision to bill the offender for the total cost of repairing/restoring the road.
