I am after info on what's the best floor in a swag, Canvas or Tub floor same as Canvas tents. I have looked for info on this but can't find this specific info.
Burke & Wills Redgum Have both as an option. Cheers to all.

Hi Dirk

I have the Redgum,Burke and Wills double swag for a couple of years and its the poly something flooring/tub floor as u say.I had problems with the canvas sealing off at the joins at first in some areas, not just at the flooring, did all the soaking thing a couple of times even in my bathtub...

Now one thing i can say about these blokes is that they will make sure the product is right (until your happy) and more..Doubt whether any other company will go to the efforts that these guys do..

cheers

This is a good question Rox..Now when i bought my swag i was single, thinking yeah i'll meet a gal and she'll want to swag it with me ! LOL (a young blue eyed blonde with firm voluptuous breasts, yeah i know tell me i was DREAMIN !)

Now the ol slapper (only joking) quite likes the swag,But you have issues with changing where as a bloke can turn his undies and socks inside out and get another day at least and if its raining there is NO room etc etc...

I have a single swag as well and if i did it again i'd keep it single just for guys weekends away..

Now i have my block we decided to get a 6 man canvas tent (until i do the shed thing) with the pole in the middle from aussie disposals @$350 on special (i bought the extra pack so you get rid of middle pole) i suggested to her the pole dancing thing but went down like a lead balloon !
Anyway it only takes 5 minutes to put up and there is plenty of room to stand in and to put a queen size blow up bed with plenty of room to spare and light to carry too !

I'd suggest that if you are married etc etc

Cheers

Rox

When we were swagging we put a high density foam mattress (the same thickness as the swag mattress) under the swag mattress. It creates an airpocket and your swag should be as comfy as your bed at home.

Cheers

We had the same choice 15 odd years ago and went with the heavy tarp sort of stuff, not polytarp but a thicker vinyl sort of stuff with a woven thread through it sort of like a truck tarp. It has been pretty good but will abrade when packed next to something that will rub on it. Consequently they both have a few rub holes in them which either have to be siliconed or taped to retain waterproofing.
If getting another I'd go with heavy canvas as it should stand up to abrasion better plus the tub to wall seam will seal better as it is canvas both sides.
We also fitted one of those 10mm foam sleeping mats under the mattress for a bit more comfort.

The only disadvantage I see with the Poly is condensation because it can't breathe at all, but the canvas can soak up the moisture from the ground and take a while to dry up. Trust me, canvas wears through is put up against something rough on the roof racks or whatever, but the poly is easy to repair with any rubber repair kit (like for repairing vinyl waders, inflatable boats or kayaks). No sewing, just sticking.
Go for the tub style bottom, you won't be disappointed, and you can practically lay in an inch of water a not get wet inside.

Thanks to all, I think the PVC base is better. I was worried about the condensation comming up. All Good Tents have a PVC or similar base so I'll go that way.
Happy Camping to All.
