We have recently purchased the TX3400, and are scratching our heads as to where to mount it.
There are a few options but I will not let my husband drill a single hole until I explore all the options.
I would like a dash pod so that the screen for the
parking sensors can also be installed and placed in the same area.
We also have Mio that is currently in the middle of the dash, but can be moved easily.
I was thinking a dash pod to house all three, is this reasonable?
All suggestions welcomed.
Cheers
Kelly

Why don't you get a roof console and move everything up there?

I haven't seen a roof console that I like.
Do you know of any websites with pictures so that I can look further?

What's wrong with installing a top shelf you will gain additional storage space for your maps etc.

Thanks, I didn't even give a top shelf a thought (which is weird cause we used to have one about 4 cars ago).
Do you konw of any websites with pictures so I can see what's on offer?

Try
RoNo Consols: www.ronoconsoles.com.au
Dept. of Interior: www.consoles.com
I got my centre console from Dept. of Intereior and am more than happy with it and their sales backup.

Hi 46lux
Shame as GME have a new product in the TX3440. It's due to be released in a few weeks or so. It has all the controls on the microphone.
Look at the link below and scroll down to the TX3440.

Thanx they look great. It's always the way, you buy the item you want then they bring out a new revised version.

After posting my question I went and sat in the car and had a good look around.
I was able to pull out the drink holders and ashtray in the centre console and there is a alot space under there, where we can mount both the base unit for the uhf and the
parking sensors. The wires can easily travel to:
* under the aircon controls at the bottom of the dash for the uhf head unit and external speaker
* and run wires under the dash to allow the screen for the reverse sensors to be mounted on the right hand side of the dash.
Looking at this option, we should be able to get away with only a couple of holes if any, mainly using double sided tape and zip ties. I hope that makes sense.
Am I in dreamland or are we going to have to drill away to have these items mounted properly?
Excuse my ignorance, I'm new to all this install stuff, I normally let my husband just go for gold (he's always had older 4x4's), but this is a new car and we've just gone down to one car, so I want things done as neat and tidy as possible. (I bet he hates sharing it with me too....lol)

I've just bought and installed the new TX3440 a week ago and am VERY impressed with it.
It works just like the 3400 and the older TX4000R, (for those who remember that one) only the 3440 has all the controls and screen mounted into the mic handset.
With the new 3440, all you need to do is find a place to mount the mic (which is the traditional size) as it comes with an extension cable which permits remote mounting of the main body.
If you are looking for a new UHF, (especially if space is an issue) you'd have to be crazy to not give the TX3440 a long hard look!
