Purple Polish.
Get it from B.P. Truckstops mostly.
Comes in liquid form.
Can also get a "pre cleaner" for real grotty ally.
Brings my truck tanks, stacks and bar up like new.
Steelo will actually scratch the ally,,,,definately clean it tho.
Most of the other polishes require either a buffer or lots of elbow grease.

If you can put up with the seller trying to get you to join their pyramid scheme (oh, hang on, it's not really) - then Amway do an excellent product for polishing anything

Pyramids are illegal, I do not think Amway would be arround after 50 years if it was a Pyamid, and no I am not a distributor.

I'll just add that the Yanks really love Mothers Polish in regards to keeping the raw aluminium mountain bikes shiny.

That's what I keep reading on the bike site, but didn't think the stuff was available here in Oz until I read this thread. Think I'll look a bit harder & get some if I come across it.

CLC50,
When polishing aluminium the trick is heat. If possible, get a radiator heater close to the bullbar and 'pre-heat' it. Then using Autosol, mothers polish or Silvo (which I find easiest) it will come up a treat. I got this tip from Simmons wheels in
melbourne over 15 years ago when I had my old car with polished simmons wheels. Thats what the guy there told me and it works. Just remember that when you wash the bar later on you must chamois it.
