I have 1992 Toyota Troop Carrier which is fitted with aftermarket Turbo. I am thinking of fitting a "insect screen" to front of grille. About 3 mil. diamond shaped mesh. I have heard various reports about posssible restricting "air flow" by screen causing over heating of motor. Any one out there with experiences of this. Am aware of pros and cons. regarding this, however any overheating problems experienced.....would be appreciated.
Regards Harro.....??????

All the 4wd cruiser hire utes we use have fly screen cable tied over the grills and none of them have overheating problems in north western Qld.
Have a good on

I got one fitted when I bought the vehicle even though it was not recommended for the TD. In two years I've never had any problems from overheating. Apart from when the fan blade went through the radiator:(

I also have a 1992 Troopy that was fitted (cable ties) with insectscreen when I purchased second hand 18 months ago. Never had any issues with overheating - although most travel to date in the cool of Australias south east. I'm about to head North and based on experience to date, the flyscreen will be staying in place.

Thanks Tim, just as I thought. From my opinion, (not that its worth much) but if vehicle does suffer from overheating, the engine or radiator has some "underlying" problem. Regards.....Harro
