Easy, JD.
It's mechanical with no ECU, but I think the last model TD6 with intercooler has some pretty basic electronics involved.

JD,
Performance and 4.2 can go together if you want to work it a little. You can get 160+HP out of a 4.2 for a few grand and still keep it reliable. This is around about 80% plus, over the standard 4.2 turbo GU when it come out of Nissan HQ back in 1999.
The chips for the 3lt GU will increase power and torque by about 20-30% for about a grand or so. Still a long way behind the worked 4.2 IMO.
If you want power though, why not look at the 4.8 petrol GU?
Cheers, Trevor.

Don't mean to be a PITA but for those reading the above and thinking "big deal, it's 152 hp standard !" Trev means 160+ 'Rear wheel' hp. That equates to around 160kw at flywheel.
Bluddy hell Trev !! That's 214 flywheel hp !! A 6.5 only puts out 190 hp !
WOOOOOOWWW !!!!

Yeah you are right Pezza, maybe I should have been clearer.
I started with 66kw at the rear wheels from the factory 4.2 turbo (no i/cooler) but am now running 126kw or 168HP at the rear wheels and with 310,000 km on the clock and still running sweet I am sure most people would be happy with reliability of the 4.2 worked motor. To get to this extent has cost a few bob including the fitment of and i/cooler but I just love the result compared to the factory units. I also talked to someone the other day running 138kw at the rear wheels and it was dynoed with 33" tyres so I would love to have a drive in that one.
Cheers, Trevor.

Yep that's the starting point on the 4.2 but don't forget to get a dump pipe at the same time. No sense doing a 3" exhaust without changing the dump pipe for one that can breath properly. You should get 10-15% gain just by doing these two simple jobs.
Cheers, Trevor.
