Can anyone tell me what size rims the F250 have, and if they are avalable in steel or alloy looking to aquire 4 for the van with 8 studs centred at 165 " i think" we have 16x8 Nissan 6 stud on the van at the moment with 285x75x16 BFG, on our new GMC we have 16x8 alloy rims with 265x75x16 tyres i have to get the studs changed on the van and have found it hard to get a stud long enough for the alloys so thought that if i could get a steal rim in 8 stod it would be thinner and the studs would be longer enough, also might be able to put them on the GMC and therefore meet BFG requirments that 285 must have a rim min of 7inches and i would not have to cut away the wheel arch to get the dif a little bit higher, at the moment it is only 190 wheras our nissan is 245.
any info would be appreciated
Regards

A GMC stud is US$ 4.00 .. just had a stud and a nut sent as a sample for the
custom trailer I am building ... I'd go for the same im as on the truck or for a common one in OZ .. why mix with Ford wheels ??? GMC steel rims (non duallys) should be no problem ..

good luck

Hi,
_gmd_pps am waiting for ford to send to studs one 72 and one 65 and will see where the thread starts, the GMC came into Aissie with 6.5 8 stud rims as std with that size BFG say you cannot put the 265 or 285 tyres on you must have at least a 7inch rim i would like to have the 8inch ones if i can, the problem is to put 8 inch on the GMC with the 285's a fair bit of cutting is required and also some sortof wider mud guard, i can get the 285 on with no cutting with the 6.5 rims and was thing i could fix both problems with a 7inch 250 rim if the studs are set at 165.

I don't quite understand ..
In the US the guys run much larger tires than 285 without problem ..
are you talking dually ? or SRW .. on a SRW it is no problem ..
on a dually it's a different story ... I have a dually and am about to mount 255/85/16 which is the max for track width and low pressure on the 6.5
good luck

I am not sure either, But I guess he means he would like to do as the manufacturer recomends to make sure it's legal.

What many people do and never have a problem, is a quite different than what the manufacture recommends

The guy's in the states run the tyres on the stock rims being 6.5 wide BFG in the states and in Australia recomends at least 7.5 rims for any tyre over the stock of 245, if you use a 8" rim them you have trouble with both the 265 & even more with the 285 the inside of the fender has to be cut and the front suspension raised somtime up to 2" and then you have to change the guards to something like a bushwacker fender.

well if you say so ..
265 is fine on 7" in the states and here ..
I guess you are talking SRW ...
a 2" level for the front is pretty much standard isnt it ..
crank the torsion bars and your done .. I have a cognito leveling kit though ..
good luck

I've got a spare F250 steel rim sitting in the shed at the moment with a 265/75 X 16 tyre on it.

Would think the rim is about 16" X 7".

Hope this helps

For anyone with an F250, I found this link, the "custom" link on this page shows a set of flares that have the gaurds cut behind to allow for bigger wheels without a spring lift by the look of it.

www.oot4wd.com.au/=F250.asp

Don't think they would fit a chev though
