I've got it.
It's been bugging me for a while now, what is it about the 70 series that's not right.

Then tonight it struck me. I was sitting there looking at the front cover of "Just 4x4's" with the 4 door wagon. It was at a slight angle and there it was ............
A 60 series with a different grille. Talk about getting value out of a design!!!!

Try it, you need to squint a bit, but you'll see it too.

Now if I can just figure out a way to get 60k for a low milage 60 series I'll be right.

Admittedly with the 6o you had to pay extra for air. Whoops you do with this one too.

Aaaaah well.

GoneTroppo, I can save you a bit more than 10K if you like.

I have got a 61 series that you can have for high 40K's.

Got air too.

Thanks Chris, they were taken over a few years though.

Was going to go out and take some of the rain we have had, but didn't get time.

We were there once about 98 or 99 and about 5pm watched a big bad band of heavy rain come in across the plain. Magic view.

GoneTroppo, I noticed the same. When I got home with the book, took the home boss out side and said have a look at the picture and then at our 60 series and tell me what you see.

She instantly said that it has the same styling and she is not one to pay attention to car/4X4 styling.

Regards

Graeme
(PS my 60 also has air, goes even better with windows down)

Ummmmm Errrrrrr!!!! Its not a 70 Series, Its a 76 Series.

The generic term 70 Series applies to the 75,76,78 & 79 Series vehicles and yep Yota are making more money out of that series vehicles than any other as they have only made one set of dies and tooling and that was, What?? in 1983 I think???

Why change a good design? Especially if it is still selling by the thousands.

It might be the same as something else.
But the sales figures will be the judge of whether they got it right or wrong.

They will most likely sell more of these than they sell 100 series wagons, which is allready the case with the troopy (in a world market).

I am a little surpised at your sentimants though, when one of the vehicles you have owned would surely take the record for having the longest running model line up which looks the same as a prevoius one.
But I am sure the vehicle has served you well.

I'll pay that Allan.
Only difference is that LR never went around saying it was new or charge 60K for it.

BTW I'm not anti Toyota we've got 5 Corolla SW's and they are a good thing

The original MINI was made up until 2000.

In Russia they still the make the Lada Niva and it looks almost the same as when it came out in 1977, just has newer engines. It sells alongside the newer model, for about a quarter of the price.

The original VW Beatle started production in 1935 and only finished in Mexico in 2003 (68 years).

I'm sure there are other cars that have been produced largely unchanged for many decades.

Agree absolutely, there are others Fiat 128 became a Lada and sold for decades. Hindustan Ambassador still going, and of course the original Model T.

However you hit the nail on the head.

"It sells alongside the newer model, for about a quarter of the price."

Toyota is telling us its all new and charging a premium

Maybe that is where Nissan is trying to bring back some old tricks to make a buck by selling its old navara along side a new model

Cut and paste the link into your browser for pics of a 1992 Prado.

This is the version that we never saw her in Oz, but some came in as a grey import.

And they advertised great acceleration and power, christ my hilux had more than that and was still a slugbox acceleration when ?? when I was going downhill, headwind forget it just held it flat to the floor and lucky to be doing 90k's. The whole vehicle looks similar to my prado mmm Regards Steve M
