Prattie,

The track into Chambers Pillar is very narrow and has sand dunes. There is not a lot of room to get a run up to cross the dunes. The dunes are also close together with some low overhanging branches.

Towing any form of trailer is not recommended. Caravans will not make at all.

There is only one track in and out so if you do make it in you then have to go back the same way.

All as Wayne says. PLus there is a rock strewn 'Jump-up' on the way out and a caravan wouldn't make it up there unless towed by a grader. I wouldn't even consider taking an 'On road' van anywhere north of Finke or south of Alice on those roads.

Cheers

Hey Prattie

We towed a tradesman style trailer in there, it was under 900kgs no problems, any larger and you would start getting into trouble.

We camped at the top of the ridge that Willem talked about it was a fantastic view, you could also leave your van or trailer at the shop at Maryvale station.

Just be careful on that road as it is unpredictable.

You could also visit and or camp at Lamberts center of OZ.

Lambert center ( east 134 21' 43.56" South 25 36' 31.32" )

Chambers Pillar ( East 133 49' 29.1" South 24 52' 32.7" )

Crest of hill to camp ( East133 48' 58" South 24 47' 30" )

Look on these google earth coords

Cheers Steve.

Hey Prattie, im envious of your upcoming trip.... it'll be a fantastic month!!

If your interested, Im currently working as a helicopter pilot at Ayer's rock, and on a rotation to Kings creek station - if you drop in to say G'day, and say that I said hello on this site - i'll sort out a pretty nice discount to come flying around the rock/olga's or King's creek stn. !!!

- I dont want this to sound like advertising for the company, its more looking after fellow travellers..

Jarrod,
Ayers Rock Helicopters.

and now that I think of it, I think I'll contact David and the team about advertising here....
