Hey Wayne
I bought a safari
snorkel and fitted myself, the
snorkel was $415 and it took me about 2 hours to fit.
Mine was for a Toyota but it couldn't be that different.
Hope this helps.
Steve.

thanks steve,
i guess $150 per hr for install is a bit steep, but i dont have time to fit myself.
i think is an "OK" price.
Q: Did you rust proof the hole in panel? What is the usual practice?
thanks mate

Dont have time to fit? off here for few hrs, and its done. paint the edges of the holes drilled. Its pretty easy to do with the template... 2 holes in guard cause GU one is oval shaped where it goes thru... then the pillar.

I would be standing there with hole saw in hand looking at the car and thinking.......I measured it 97 times but I just dont think I could make the first cut!!! Bit like a surgeon on their first patient!! LOL
Cheers Stefan......
P.S don't know about the price but My old man got his installed for mates rates and that was still $100 so $150 for install sounds right to me. Have you tried E-bay for the
snorkel? sure I have seen them there cheaper.

It was worth doing it myself just to see the wifes face when she came into the garage to see what all the noise was about ,and saw me getting into the 'new car' with a large drill and hole saw !

Wayne,
When I was fitting snorkels the best way to clear a customer out of the work
shop was to stand near the vehicle with a 97mm hole saw in a drill.
How much would you want to drill a hole that big in a panel that is not flat? Remembering that one slip and there goes the panel. It would cost more than $150 to repair.
$705 sounds about right, if in doubt give ARB or TJM a ring for a quote just to compare prices.
The hole should be touched up with paint after it is drilled.
As my Dad said, measure twice, drill once.

Hi Wayne, I was quoted $150 from TJm to fit
mine so decided to do myself, as said above was an easy job and I had work buy the two hole saws so didnt cost me anything bar a bit of silastic but I was doing it to a 10k hilux so wasnt that bothered if I fu#ked up, but am getting it fitted to the prado by ARB. I was lucky and got
mine brand new for the hilux genuine safari for $275 from a mate who works for them. Havnt got him to get me a price yet for the prado. And yes I did the same thing with the lux measured 50 times then double checked that. Considering I wasnt to worried if I stuffed up but in the back of my mind I was thinking should I pay the $150 for fitment cause its gunna cost me more for a new guard and paint but in the end went for it. Once you hit that metal with the hole saw there aint no turning back. If you decide to do yourself and you live local to me (Penrith) let me know I can still borrow the whole saws if needed if there the wright size. Regards Steve M

Firstly try fitting a factory Nissan one the hole in the guard is 111mm.
On that note when I priced the factory
snorkel a couple of years ago the dealer wanted $296 supply, $600 fitted. I of course went the first option. TJM wanted $400 supply and $550 fitted. The crock is that whoever supply TJM (Can't remember brand off top of my head but big name) actually make the
snorkel for Nissan. They are exactly the same only the Nissan one has the Nissan sticker and the other just a depression where the sticker goes.
For what it's worth I preferred the Nissan
snorkel as
well as the internal passages appear bigger and better flowing, although I have no proper
test to back this up but the entry through the guard uses a 111mm holesaw and the one through the inner guard from memory was 90 odd mm.
