Hi Everybody,
I have just got used to my Ozieplorer software and using the maps provided by Natmap ( 1:250,000 scale topographic maps). I was curious as to whether anybody out there has downloaded maps of the larger cities throughout the country.
I would appreciate your
feedback on the calibrating function or some direction in where I can get digital images (maybe?).
Looking forward to your reponses.

HI Andrew.
Check the OziExplorer web page,
http://www.oziexplorer.com/ if you haven't already done so. There is a section there on maps available in Aust, with appropriate links. The
Perth MSD on CD, for example works fine on Ozi, calibration files downloadable via the Ozi website.
You can of course scan your own maps if you have the patience of Job. I have done the whole of the SW of WA on 1:50k, since I can't afford (read unwilling) to buy them (already had the paper maps tho). Understand that other states have these higher res maps at more reasonable prices.
Ozi also tells you how to do your own maps, incl stiching A4 scans back to full-size.

There is also a yahoogroup on Oziexplorer www.yahoogroups.com and search for it.

Have found with scanning maps, using a single pass flatbed scanner is to set your resolution setting (dpi) low enough to scan the map in none contiuous pass, otherwise errors will occur when calibrating due to the distortion effect when the scan stops & starts several times during the pass. Around 120 dpi works ok.
