Lightforce 240 Blitz story

Went on a weekend camping trip down a pretty rough track here in the Pilbara. Seems I may have had one of my 240 blitz wound out a little bit far (Lightforce does recommend to wind them in on rough tracks) and basically the light unwound off the mount. I was none the wiser but we were travelling with other vehicles and when we pulled up I was presented by the following vehicle with my 240 blitz in various pieces, I’d obviously run over it when it fell. I threw it in the back of the car thinking it was basically stuffed, but when I got home I had a closer look at it. The protective cover was still intact and basically not a mark on it. The lens had popped out of the casing and was still in one piece but now had some small imperfections in it. The reflector and casing had one large crack from the edge running back towards the middle of the light. I looked at it and thought I can probably get all this back together, so I put the lens back with the reflector, pushed it all inside the back cover, put the protective clear cover on the front which held it all back together, wound it back on the mount, hey presto, good as new. Well not quite as the reflector obviously has a large crack in it which gives some funky light patterns but for all intensive purposes it’s still probably 90% the light it was which is pretty good after being run over.

Hi cookie,

Try that with a metal cased light.

Metal case light probably wouldn't have fallen off in the first place! ;-)

Nothing actually failed on the mounting. Admittedly the design may be slightly floored in that it can unwind itself. But I think the benefits of that outweigh the negatives. If it's wound up tight it's no problem.

Another vehicle on the trip had hella rallye 2000, stone straight through one and the other a broken mounting.

If I were you, I would relate this story to Lightforce themselves, telling them how impressed you were at the strength of their lights, etc etc ........and then ask them for another.... I have heard the service from this company is very good..... They may give you a discount...

Cheers,

Mark

PS No affilliations etc,,,,

Well I tried my luck with lightforce, they were sorry to hear about my loss but said it wasn’t covered under warranty so they couldn’t replace it. They were very friendly and polite about it, they said it was worth asking. They advised I could purchase a replacement reflector housing for around $95 and gave me the part number and local agents to source it from. That’s pretty good service I reckon. They responded within a day of my enquiry.

Bad luck Cookie ,

Maybe you could adjust it to suit your vehcle and put a screw into the fitting to stop it moving.

I am looking for new lights at the moment , every time I turn my ones on they are pointing a different way.

Glenn.
