To be honest I never knew there were so many knots.
You could waste days here.

Gone Troppo,
Good site bloke. The trick is to remember them all when the occasion arises.
Have to take the lappy along.
Cheers,
Bros.

Coincidence or knot (?) I have 2 books covering most knots but actually borrowed another this morning from the local library. Fascinating things I reckon. I think I must have been a sailor in a previous life. Used to use them a fair bit in my previous job in the tree industry but haven't had a call since then. Still fascinated though.
Very useful site link, especially showing you the colour coded sequence of application in numbers. If only I could lock it into my brain. Now where did I put that ocky strap.

Brings back the "olden days" when i was in a Scout group that put a high value on knotting skills. You really had to be able to tie them one handed to get any respect - so i never got much respect but can still select the right know for the job and enjoy doing them right wehn we are in the bush.
Caravan reduces the need for them - must be getting old! Great site.

Know what you mean Max.
I've always admired people who can just do a complicated knot without even thinking about it, all the while muttering something about the rabbit chasing the trousersnake twice round the tree, then once backwards and then down the plughole.
I use a couple of hand drawn diagrams to help me remember the ones I use.
