Hoo Ho Ho Haaa

MADE IN CHINA , mate i tell you now don't waste your money, $99 eh well triple that and get one that will last MASADA made in Japan

Marquette (formerly Lincoln) used to be the American made field leader but after moving their production to China their quality has changed quite a bit.
The Japanese models imported by Norco and Astro are currently the best values while the Chinese & Taiwanese make some very inexpensive lines, tho, they usually don't hold up well in professional situations.

This too is another great idea

www.hyjacks.com/H21.HTM

These cute little beasts were designed to squeeze into tight spots where no other jacks 'dared to go'... Using a side-to-side pumping motion.
We feature two popular brands. Power Team and Zinko. (All jacks made by Masada in Japan.)

Now that's clever & lateral thinking. The side to side pumping action. How simple but how effective. How many times have I located a bottle jack into awkward places, with not enough up & down room to operate easily !!!

Hi darcla,
i've had the 2500kg floor jack for about 2.5 years now and not a problem, I use it on the patrol with not a problem. The main thing is to use a stand when working on the vechile. Never rely on any jack when under a vechicle.

As I observed when I was a young man of about 22 years: I jacked my Triumph Spitfire up on a scissors jack and was just about to remove the wheel when the jack stripped it's threads and dumped the Spit back on the ground! Prior to that I had, occasionally, gone under the car with just the jack holding it - NEVER done that since.

I jacked up the front of a Triumph spitfire once and it bent into a banana shape.

Had to stick the jack under the middle to bring it back up again, with 2 people sitting on the ends.

I never, ever travelled in one of those death traps. Thank god they don't make cars like they used to !!

I have a supercheap trolley jack about 3 yrs old rated about 1500 kilos but wont and never did lift more than 700. I use it for the camper trailer and odd jobs. Also have had a hydraulic jack rated 4t die recently lifting less than a tonne. It has had little use. I wont buy another one. And I certainly wouldn't put my head under a car held up by one (I always use stands) although I bet some people do.

HI Darcla.
I purchased a similiar jack. It was ok for 6 months & now is only good for a boat anchor.
Save your money!!!

I had three with no troubles a few years back until they were recalled. I took them back and received a full refund.
I then went and bought Liftteck jacks. These are brilliant and not much more expensive. Try Burson Auto Parts as thats where I bought mine from.

I have had a superrcheap 2500 kg trolley jack for at least 5 years.
These were actually subject to an ACCC recall.
I did not return mine for 3 reasons
1) Im a cheap skate and could not source a repalcement jack that lifts the 80 series as well for anywhere near the money. Handles the weight and achieves the height necessary to get both wheels on 1 side of the vehicle off the ground .
2) I dont get under vehicles without stands in place so will chance it collapsing. Given that even if it only lifts 2 tonnes that is much more than 1 side
or front or rear of the truck.I have never attempted to lift whole vehicle off the ground at once.
3) jack I have will also just fit under the commodore vx .this allows me to jack it up to work on it as that car is to low to drive up a set of ramps.

In the time I have had the jack, which is used minimum several times a week
with 3 , 4x4's, crapadoor plus kids cars to be worked on,I have had to top up oil once about 12 months ago.

I think it cost $159 .
cheers

Mate, surely the value of your vehicle and potentially your life or at least your well being are worth more than $99.00 - if not - go for it.

I thought it was only the 1500kg trolley jacks that were subject to the recall and not the 2500 ones. I have one of the $99 2500kg ones and so far its behaving and lifting the heavily modified patrol. I do use stands though. But my jack has been going for a few years now and no probs.

I bought a Kmart 1500 kg trolley jack in the early 80s and used it reguarly and sometimes improperly.
It eventually lost pressure and died slowly. Bought another identical one at a cheaper price 25 years later!! and it is also ok apart from losing one of the split pins.

Chinese jacks are ok for home use and you never get under there without a jackstand.

I did by some wheel ramps once that had a weld fail while we were at lunch.

Darcla,
I have been using one of those for a couple of years now without a problem. The only thing i do not like about them is the sprocket that opens and shuts the fluid valve. It sometimes can not engage properly. Otherwise for home use it's excellent, but always use stands. The jack is only there for getting the car on and off the stands.

Rob
Alot of people refer to it as super#^$% but when you can get the same product for far less from them it makes sense. EG rheem jerry cans (black ones)
