Bureau director Don Weatherburn said drivers were less likely to reoffend if they thought they were likely to be caught.

"The best way to reduce the risk of recidivism amongst driving offenders is to increase the perceived likelihood of apprehension,"

Mr Roozendaal said the report failed to consider that 75 per cent of the state's drivers obeyed the road rules and had no demerit points.

Why should the 75% of motorists have to put up with a minority (25%) creating greater risks on the road to them and their families.

Let's have more Police Patrols, Red Light Cameras, Speed Cameras, Laser Guns and anything else that will help to catch these repeat offenders and hoepfully put them off the roads for once and all.

I say zero tolerance for serial road traffic offenders - is the way to go.

LOL I agree with you DIO. Put the idiots behind bars for a while. Who cares if it stuffs up their lives - I don't. As long as it saves the lives of other road users.

Zero tolerance - got my vote :))))

“Let's have more Police Patrols, Red Light Cameras, Speed Cameras, Laser Guns and anything else that will help to catch these repeat offenders and hoepfully put them off the roads for once and all.”

Yeah so every poor motorist who happens to slip 3-5km/h over the limit for a matter of seconds will end up getting booked and lose demerit points.

Or even better on example of the “Bad guy” that you say this type of law will stop

I worked with a Guy who has a 330KW Corvette, lit it up round a corner at 1am on a quite road, Cop just happen to be at the lights down the road and went to pull him over, Where once upon a time this offence would have incurred 3 points and a fine or something, and most times would have sent the chap home or had him slow down cause he's thinking bugger if I get done agene I will loose my license might try and be a good boy.

Now under the Hoon laws this guy now stands to loose his car, License and job for something that endangered no one but himself. (Not defending what he did or the rights or wrongs of it hear) so he thinks F**k it, they what me they can cache me> 330KW of 5.7 litre Chev powered corvette hit the GO pedal and bang you are at 240Km/h and gown with the money leaving the Cop’s thinking WTF was that, wile now endangering how many lives.

Sorry to Say Tougher laws are not the answer they have been trying this approach and WOW it isn’t doing Jack and its getting worse that what it was, wonder why.

Exploder,

So because it may be a bit hard or because the bad guys might get nasty, your solution is to back off and let them do whatever they want. That is exactly why we're in the situation we're in.

Too many gutless, bleeding hearts with views like yours are in control. You have absolutely no bloody idea at all.

LOL, Think i am a bleeding heart, obviously don't know me very well.

You obviously believe the media beat up about this massive Hoon issue we have in Australia and we need tougher laws to protect us from them.

Hay I am under 25 so apparently a massive road risk so have to pay stupid amounts to insure my 4WD and XR6T Falcon> Funny in probably close to 200,000km of driving since i have a license, never had a speeding fine, never had a crash but I am branded a Hoon and a high risk buy some tosser bureaucrat.

I own a 4WD so i am piloting the plant and endangering the kids also have a fire arms license as well so i am also a criminal.

So apparently I am a Hoon, Child killer and a Criminal

"Think i am a bleeding heart" Not at all Exploder. A dope considering your obvious admiration of another idiot because he has "a 330KW Corvette" and your other references to 'perceived' performance vehicles - yes !!!

I don't react to media beatups just what I see on the roads every single day.

I heard on toy delroy niteline that in copenhagen they got rid of most of the traffic lights and road signs and the average speed went down as did the number of accidents.

Everyone had to keep their minds on the job I guess
