Voxson,

Have a look at the top left, there is a new box. Half way down the box is " Display Options".
Then there is "Sort Results By" and two options, Thread ID and Response Time.

Thread ID the post will be in numerical order, and Response Time is when there is a new post it will come to the top of the page.

I hope this is the answer to your question.

May be once all the changes have been made, David might be able to put up a page and go through all the features. I am sure there are a lot of us that are not using the Forum to its full potential.

Voxson,

There are no changes to the post layout at the bottom just the top section has been modified. Wayne mentioned the PostID and ResponseID flags - this is the only way to adjust the output. PLease let me know what the Click on the Forum button means as I do not really understand what this means.

Also what browser and O/S are you using please?
If the screen looks strange please email me a screen shot to david@exploroz.com and I will have a look.

The only problem I have at the moment was a feedback from a MAC user - I am not sure which browser it is yet but this is the only issue I have been sent feedback on (apart from the stuff I fixed the other day when the layout was launched). Any information you can supply will help.

Click on the forum...,,, meant by clicking on the "FORUM" hyperlink at the top of the page allowed me to see all posts in order,,, but it also meant i saw read ones also...
I tried sorting out the posts with the new options but it brings them in all over the show

EG::First one might be from yesterday then the next from today and the next from three days ago..

Screen looks fine... 1280x1024....

Doesnt matter now,,, i was just in a whinging mood before..
I should have not written the post.
You know when you think about something and then you write it down,,, it was one of those dumb moments..
Thanks for the reply though..

I feel that it is not as good in some respects - basically the amount of add space means that 2/3 of screen that appears after clicking forum is taken up and there is not much room for actual post viewing without the need to scroll down.

Don't suppose there is a " remove some advertising option I have missed" is there ?

Robin,

If every one was a fully paid up member and the membership was $200 each, then the advertising would be less.

It is a fact of life.

Hell just froze over.. I agree with Robin. Once youve seen the ad... do you need to see it 209482309843098 more times?

Robin,

Are you using 800x600 screen resolution by any chance - a 300x250 add slot should not take up much space if your resolution is running 10248768 or higher. Additionally as I mentioned yesterday we have only come down around 100 pixels from the version running the other day that is about:
------

------
That long - plus with the added functions available due to getting a little more space it should be a plus exercise. Also remember that I am re-writing all the other pages also and this will give you even more access and control without returning to the index page.

Yes David , using 800X600 and that is indeed part of the reason.

I use ad blockers to prune the site, cleans it up a bit, it's the damn flashing ones that annoy me.

Red Frog,

Your choice - however we only allow 4wd and touring targetted ads on ExplorOz so in the most part they should be relevant. Your choice to block, your choice to join our membership, as a community we hope everyone joins in, in some form or another. Block the ads , do not join, supress the revenue then it may not exists - this is also your choice. If you want to use these techniques that is fine but do it in private.

The input is great and I'm sure it will help David however it is "work in progress".

My feelings are we sit back, relax and wait for the final product.

My screen was previously set on its native resolution of 1280X1024 and I could not see all the top row of buttons (they stopped in the middle of About Us).

I changed to 1024X768 and made sure I had normal font size selected and everything is fine.
I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

Ah yeah the font thing - that font DPI scalling in the monitor preferences is a real killer. Still working on trying to get around that one - you can go back to 1280x1024 without problems - In fact this is my resolution however the font scaling thing will cause the menu to break - as mentioned I am trying to find this but it ain't so easy.
