Hello all
I have ordered my new Troopie, 5 seater GXL.
My question is..... who are the best people to talk to about storage solutions ?
We will be using the vehicle for remote area outback touring, so I am looking for suggestions about the configuration for the storage system. The game plan would be to have as few things as possible on the roof. Rear dual whellcarriers are a definite as are long range tanks.
I am just thinking about the layout inside the car to store our "stuff". Where is a smart place ot have the fridge ? I am thinking about a 3rd door conversiion, but not yet sure how to configure the internals of the vehicle.
Any thoughts and ideas would be much appreciated.

I thought the GXL had passenger doors?
You have ordered and probably paid for it so I guess you would know :-)
Would you need the third door to gain access to the seats or just for storage.
If it is just to get at the seats I wouldn't worry about it, getting in to the rear seats is not that bad.
I have a 92 RV.
It has "Outback" drawers in the back with the big 80 litre Waeco mounted on a slide, it works okay for us.
I know you want to keep things off the roof but I recommend a roof top tent. Quick and easy to set up, plus it saves room as you can leave the bedding in it when you pack it up. I have the ARB tent on
mine with the roll out awning, all up about 50kg I think.
Cheers, Jack

You talk about long range tanks. Doesn't that model have dual tanks? (180l)
Or are you contemplating real long range tanks?

Michael,
Good to see that you have come around to a real 4WD. The Troopie must have impressed you on the CSR two years ago. We will not talk about the "U" bolts.
At the moment I am in the middle of packing the Troopie for the Canning again plus a couple of other trips that I will be doing over winter.
There will be a lot of good advice from other Troopie owners on this site that will help you decide on what system to go for. The only thing that I would say is to only have the draws as long as cargo area that is behind the back seats.
By the time that you get the vehicle there should be plenty of aftermarket bars and tanks on the market. The way you had the Patrol set up was good and if you do much the same you will not go wrong.
We will
check under the bonnet in November. The
Vic High Country has changed a lot since the fires. It should be
well on the way to regrowing but will be very different to what you saw before.

Thanks for the comments.
Yes, Wayne.....I think you converted Lynne first on the CSR and I have followed since the new model was released. Am looking forward to setting it up.
Enjoy winter up north and look forward to catching up in November.

PS - I will always carry a spare set of U and centre bolts.... Hee Hee
