Hi
Have a 54ltr Long
Ranger water tank under our Troopy, the water gets quite discoloured and we would like to completely drain the tank. Problem is there is no drain plug, even the pipe connecting it is about an inch up the side of the tank, this is just plain stupid to me. How would you get rid of a bad batch of water?
Thanks Lyndon & Bernadette

Well if you can get water in you must be able to get it out, so how do get the water from the tank and how do you fill it,
What I'm getting at is.... if you can force water into the filler until it starts to issue from the outlet/pump that should flush it.
Of course the other option is ....take it off

Hi Doug
Tried the fill and flush thing, filler under the bonnet, outlet is a tap at the back of the car with in-line electrical pump. Still did not clean it out as much as i would like, as said you have to wonder why they would not place a drain plug at the lowest point in the tank.

Gday,
I hate to be the beare of bad news mate, but there is really only one solution.
Take it out, drill a hole in it and fit a bung.
Cheers

Hi Lyndon,
It might be stating the obvious, but have you driven the vehicle up the steepest slope you can find and then drained/pumped the tank out. This should get most of the water out.

Thanks for everyone writing back, must admit i have not had the pump on and the hose going flat out yet.Have just pumped it dry and filled it a couple of times. Will give it a try on a rainy day so a neighbour doesn't report me for wasting a heap of water.
Cheers Lyndon

If you want to drain it just put a tek in the lowest part & then remove & replace.
Metal or plastic..wont matter. It seems that most water tanks suffer the problem
of bad water, mould etc & often difficult to cure. I prefer to carry 20 l plastic containers..easily replaced..water or container & no hassles.....oldbaz
