I have a new 2007 GU5 ST-L and plan to install :
- A CB radio on top of the dash in an aftermarket pod with the antenna mounted on the bullbar
- A Prodigy brake controller from where the front ashtray is
- A second battery in the engine compartment (there is a space on the passenger side, I think) and run the power cables to an Anderson plug in the rear for connection to the caravan
I am happy enough I can get the electronics part right but does anyone have any suggestions, pictures or diagrams about the best routes to run these various wires. As it's a new vehicle I don't want to pull more bits apart than I have to or make any unecessary holes in the firewall, etc. Really would appreciate any help on this.

Mate,
You will find an existing peno through the firewall behind where you are planning to install the 2nd battery. Cut the rubber grommet, wires through and some silicon. All is good.
Once inside it's really easy. Lift the plastic plates at each door entry (They just pop out ) and run the wires through. If you need to access the centre consul then its just two screws on either side up at the front.
Make sure you keep the power, control wires away from the co-ax!!
Think about where you want to mount the control head and mic as it's the ease of use you will appreciate.
The rest is easy.
I have recently installed a
HF radio and was able to run the power down one side of the Patrol & antenna cable down the other.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

I have the prodigy installed under the steering wheel close up against the centre console. I changed the Nissan CD radio for a Pioneer cd mp3 bluetooth standard size unit and put the UFH underneath. ARB battery tray fits ok under the bonnet in the 4.2.
