Lots of good wineries in the Barossa. Any good tour first involves getting a bus, limo or sucker to drive for you. When you say tour ....what do you mean?? Are you just after good wineries???

A good wine tour is any wine tour I reckon but the last time I went I found Jacobs Creek very nice and some cellar door only releases. There are many wineries in the regions so you wont get to see them all. Sometimes the smaller ones have the best deals. Try
Stanley Brothers choc-o-blok port, very unique. Most wineries also let you have a go at some expensive reds too although only at certain times of the day, you have to fluke it.

Once again I have to admit my ignorance as a non drinker.
Why only at certain times of the day ? Surely an expensive red is an expensive red any time of the day or night ? :)))

Nah dont listen to those Riverland guys! LOL
Just up the road from the Barrosa Valley, is the fabulous
Clare Valley, more wine to taste than you can point a rusty stick at, and if you call at our
information centre, next to the
Clare caravan park first, you will be able to get tour info and contacts.
Cheers Pesty

Peter Lehman at
Tanunda has good wines and nice setting. At
Angaston, Saltram and Yalumba are the same. I find Jacobs Creek too commercial. Rockford has some expensive good wines, and interesting antique presses.

You have not said what you are looking for. There are hundreds of wineries and quite a few tours. The trick would be getting the tour to line up with your tastes and weight of wallet! There are many styles in the Barossa. Prices vary from ~$10 to over $1,000 a bottle. As a guide (and there are exceptions) you will find premium wines of any note are approx $20 - $30. Wines with longer finish, more complexity etc tend to start just less than $30 and go to $100. Then you move to the exceptional and they could be any price. I think Grange is $500 a bottle this year. If you are just looking for something to throw back around the fire there are plenty in the $15 - 20 range. If you insist on going on a tour I would make sure it goes to Grant Burge, Penfolds, Saltram, Henschke and Wolf Blass. 5 winaries is more than enough and it will take all day to visit this 5. IMO this covers most of the major styles in the Barossa. There are also lots of boutique wineries. Elderton is probably a good example. If you want to sample the wares of the Krondorf Trades (jams, relishes etc) which are very good, I would do it on another day. They usually sell at the Tununda Market and at Rockfords Winery. Best buy at present IMO are both at Grant Burge, Cameron Vale (Cab Sav) and Hillcot (Merlot). These are <$20 a bottle and easy to drink. Have fun.
