I think the name is Mayfords track down to below
Dinner Plain from
Omeo High Plains road - but has anyone done it recently as I am thinking of going there next weekend and last time we did it (about 12 years ago it was winch out and hope to God it didn't rain while you were down there!)
Any recent advice appreciated.

The name of the track is King Spur.
They re aligned the track some years ago and in the dry is a easy run in and out. If wet still can be a challenge though. It has been a couple of years since I have been in there but have heard the track is still in reasonable condition.
You may want to check with Parks Vic if it is opened after the fires. I know some areas are still closed.
Cheers

Andrew W.
We did a club trip in January '06 to the Mayford Track and it was closed off at the eastern end (just below
Dinner Plain). They had made it into a walking track only.
Not to sure about where it came out at the west but it is blocked at the
Dinner Plain end.
Sorry can't be of anymore help to you.
True Blue.

Hi Andrew, Mayford Spur Track is the one from the
Dinner Plain side, it has been closed for years as you can hardly ride a horse down it let alone drive. King Spur Track is off the
Dargo High Plains road at Lankey's Plain and as the other guys have said the track has been realigned and improved and isn't as bad as it was 12 yrs ago. I believe it is open at the moment but it will close after Queens Birthday Weekend. If it rains heavily King Spur Track can be difficult but it has forgotten how to rain around here.
Cheers Darryn

Gaday Waddo. As mentioned already the old Mayford track was closed years ago. Pity as it goes down as one of the best challenges I've ever done. An average of around 20 degrees for over 4 km peaking at 45 degrees on one rock ledge.
The only access to Mayford Flat is off the
Dargo rd & according to the latest Parks update is currently open. Following the heavy rain today & what is forecast later in the week it too will be a challenge to get out. (Once took us 6 hours to climb up King spur & we all had
winches :-)
Advice........avoid it in the wet.
Cheers Craig...........
