Evening All
Heading out to
Parkes from
Wollongong in a few weeks. Any ideas on an alternate route other than through Blue Mountains,
Bathurst etc. Just thought it may be nice to see some different country rather than the most direct route.
Thanks
Hardo

Gday Hardo, Try going up the Hume Hwy to Yass then across to Cowra then
Parkes via Eugowra.
Cheers Mate. Grant.

Laura,
very beautiful country through there. Like you say a bit windy but good roads none-the-less.

If you get some good maps of the area you should be able to plot a route through from Mittagong,
Wombeyan Caves and through State Forests and National Parks to get you
well towards
Bathurst with very little travel on bitumen.
I just had a quick look on Natmap Raster 250k series and you have got me thinking. Might take a bit of planning and you would probably have to follow the map closely but it could be a lot of fun. Some really pretty country through that way.

I'll second that route through Mittagong via
Wombeyan Caves to
Bathurst, been that way a few times,it's a great drive and
well off the usual beaten track. DJW

Will have to sort out my timing for the trip, that route certainly sounds interesting.

if u want to just poke along,
goulburn,
crookwell,
tuena,
lyndhurst, blaney ,shadworth,
orange ,
parkes .
there is about sixty kilometres of dirt, but it is good going, lot of history in the little towns but if you're in a hurry, i would personally miss out on going the great western highway, and go the yass, cowra way instead.
