G'Day Everyone,
Just picked up a 2nd hand 1993 Rodeo 4x4 2.8td crew cab and have a few questions about it.
1. Can anyone tell me what the fuel tank capacity is?
2. What sort of mileage can I expect?
3. How many litres left when light comes on?
Ive had it about a week and love it so far. It drives really
well, more power than I expected (previously owned only petrols). Im taking it on a trip to the bush this weekend so would appreciate the above info.
Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts.

The tank capacity is 75 litres. I got on average 10.4 kilometres / litre. I think from memory that the fuel light comes on with 10 litres left.

When we had ours we consistently got around 11.5 litres/100 and I remember that I knew I could count on at least 60km on good road after the low fuel light came on.
I seem to remember that the crew cab had a 60 litre tank while the standard cab had the bigger tank - but a lot of crew cabs had a larger 110 litre tank fitted.
Cheers ............. Alan

Alan,
Thanks for the info, it was above the red line when i filled the tank and it took 89lt, so im thinking maybe it has the 110lt tank fitted.

Check that it went through the recall and had the harmonic balancer put on properly,or you will have crankshaft and injector pump problems. I was lucky and we managed to save the crank.

53 litres standard. (Can get 118 as a replacement)
About 10 kms to the litre. (Cruising at 95-100 in 5th)
I think it was 8 litres. (I got it to come on once and eventually re-fuelled at
Katherine and put 52 and a half litres in!)
Mine worked prety hard and did 250,000 before I traded it. Had no real trouble except a few oil leaks from various seals.

You may find with Rodeo T/Ds that occasionally they refuse to start. The first thing to do is remove and replace the fuel cap and try again. That normally works, as they may have an obstructed breather line and removing the vacuum will allow the engine to start. Mines a 2002 2wd, it's awork truck and does a super job.
Happy trails, Mike.

Another thing you have to watch for on the 92-94 mods was the concernteened (how ever you spell it) section of air hose between the air filter and the turbo. They tendered to harden and split in this section and therefore could suck un-filtered air through the split.
Oil filter was difficult to get at (
mine was a 92 model).

AJB,
Thanks for that, I checked the (wont try to spell it) flexible hose to air filter and it looks in good condition, also agree with you, oil filter looks a real bugger to get to.
Cheers mate,

G'day Croc,
I have a '93 2.8 TD Space Cab, had it since new and it turned 14 years old this month (May).
Mine had a 75 litre tank (replaced by a 125 litre tank) and I regularly got 9 litres per 100 Klms. on the open road travelling the speed limit (and no more) in fifth gear. From what I can recall, the fuel light came on when 8 litres were left.
I now tow a caravan, travelling around 85 K/p/h and get a range of 800 Klms per tank on the open road in fourth gear. I have had no real problems as I have the vehicle regularly serviced by a 4x4 specialist (Robsons Bros,
Perth) and hope to keep it at least another 5 years when I probably be too old to travel the outback on my own, then I'll catch a tourist bus.
If you intend to travel the outback, I suggest you invest in a Long Range Fuel Tank, a
Snorkel, a Bull Bar, and if you intend to tow, an Intercooler.
Hope you have many happy years enjoying your Rodeo.
Regards,
Peter.

Peter,
Thanks for your reply and info.
I think it already has a large fuel tank as it took nearly 90lt to fill and it was still above the red line when I filled it, so it may be 110lt or more.
Vehicle came with ARB bull bar and tow bar and I will take your advice about the
snorkel if I intend doing serious outback travel. We are more into camping than c/van so I may be able to do without the intercooler.
Thanks again for the info and
well wishes.
Hope you have many more years of travel.
Regards
Croc
