The Patrol Ti with ABS has no room under the bonnet (that I can see) for mounting a 2nd battery for auxilliary use. Without ABS, the usual mount point is on the LHS, near the firewall - but that's where the "horribly piped" ABS unit sits.
I mounted my auxilliary battery in a battery box at the LHS rear inside the cabin, in front of the air intake duct for the rear air conditioning unit.
Does anyone have any workable suggestions/experience on "better" mounting positions that the one I have used? I would prefer the battery outside of the cab, to conserve interior room - but of course in a position wher it won't be easily damaged.

Hello "Lone Wolf".
I am an AutoElectrician with a lot of experience in this area. First of all, What Model and Year is your Nissan Ti ? What engine does it use?
I have not found a vehicle yet, Where I cannot fit a Second Battery under the hood. Sure, I've had to make allowances and so
forth.
Because you mention the ABS. Would your vehicle be a late model, 1999-2003 with ABS. If it is, You have a problem with where the Air Cleaner assembly is. Any other Nissan and you would be fine.
If it is the Vehicle I'm thinking of, You have to have a Special Carrier made for the Battery. You are also limited in the size of battery you can use.
Please Email me back your details at damian007@optusnet.com.au and I will be happy to help if I can.

I'm having exactly the same problems with my Series 3 Land Rover.
A guy in the Exide
shop told me yesterday that I couldn't have a standard non-sealed battery in the vehicle it had to be under the bonnet or outside. A battery mounted inside would have to be sealed to avoid spillage and build up of hydrogen on charging.
Can anyone confirm this?
The aux battery won't fit under the bonnet and I don't want to mount it outside - I have a perfect position inside at the back.
Getting desperate as I'm off in 2 weeks.
