Planning on going bush for a few days in the school holidays, no where in particular just generally in the EAstern Goldfileds out towards Coolgardie. Thought i would hire a metal detector to take to give us something to do while out there.

But how do you find out where you cant go with out tresspassing on exisiting tenements, leases etc. And do you need a licence or anything?

What I know about prospecting could be put in a matchbox with room to spare. But I do know that in WA you need a prospectors license (free I believe).
Good luck with the filthy yellow stuff.

It also allows you to ride quad bikes on unallocated crown land. I've had my Miners Right for a few years now.

Looking for adventure.

Alan,
I was at Ora Banda a few months ago and the WA prospectors club was there on a field event. In the evening, after a few beers outside the pub (which has been re-opened now about a year) some of the members were doing a bit of show and tell. Yes, there's still gold in them thar hills!!!! from what I saw.
The track from Coolgardie to Ora Banda is a good one and has a number of interesting historical sites along the way.
Watch out for yellow fever, have fun.
Cheers Glenn

Check with this Forum one of the best around Link for advice on Gold Prospecting, Mineral detecting etc throughout Australia. Apparently much (if not most) of the gold bearing areas out east are on mining leases and the hoders of these leases will allow access however it is usually strictly on an 'invited' basis and you must ahve written permission. There are many on the above forum who will be able to put you straight. Go for it and good luck.
