Look in the trading post for a Shippshape or spend the $ and buy new. I found one that was 10 years young a few months ago and am V-happy with it :-) .
I did a www search a long time ago and found a home page detailing a brand name tent with side openings that fitted onto an ARB steel rack once a ply base was added.

After all the work and effort and hassles, and proto types, would it be worth it all!?

Not having looked at prices of them, they SHOULDNT be that expensive.

Do what a mate did, he hired a camper trailer took it home measured every inch of it, went camping with it then went home and made his own!

Dazza: I have a simple and effective plan for a roof top tent , and the 'boss' fully agreed.. Call up Aussie Traveller and get one of their units ..and half an hour later you will have the best rig sitting on your roof and not a scratch in sight !!

Hi Dazza

I have asked myself that same question. What I have come up with is to look around for a cheap two man hiking tent ( Big W). Something that is about four feet wide and seven feet long. Attach it to a peice of seven ply and attach it to your roof racks. Have a way of securing poles at each end. Cover with a tarp when travelling.

Simple enougth?
