This nice sounding unit was supposed to be landing here in June. Today I rang Blackburn Kia to see if they knew any info on configuration, etc.
I spoke to a friendly salesperson who didn't seem too busy and was willing to chat.
There will be 3 specification levels when it arrives in August/September, and it will be the MY08 build specification.
Blackburn Kia will not even stock the lowest spec as it is pared down to a price of $34990, not even cruise control. Auto option +$2500, he didn't know if it would continue as the 5 sppeed or feature a new 6 speed. Not sure about whether it will be 2Wd with electric 4Wd select as for the current model, but likely yes. It will have low range.
The next spec gets 17" Alloys, Cruise control, ESP, and leather trim steering wheel. Price +$2000. They feel the $2000 will be a no-brainer upgrade from the base model. If the spec follows the UK spec, this one will have full time 4WD as
well. I think it's a TOD system but not sure.
The top spec model will be $44490 in Auto, but not sure if manual will be available, if so, deduct $2500. It will have Sunroof, Black leather with red stitching, side curtain airbags, dark woodgrain (I was assured it didn't look like crap) climate control. Again, if it follows current UK specs it will have full time 4wd, things like heated electric mirrors, etc.
The petrol engine version will revert to a 3.3 litre V6 from the current 3.8 - I didn't ask pricing on those.
Doesn't answer all the questions, and it's only hearsay, but that's that for what it's worth :)

Sounds like a good bit of gear eh, Going backwards with the engine power though,
Too much electrics . mirrors, electric 4Wd select , I had problems with that idea in the Rocky , 17' might be hard to find at
Oodnadatta or
Birdsville, The Cruise I would like, Sunroof will leak in the future and give you cancers, Black leather is gonna burn ya ar$e big time and the stitching will frey from wear and tear ,side curtain airbags that'll knock ya head off for no reason, dark woodgrain (I was assured it didn't look like crap) It will because it's not genuine wood ,if it follows current UK specs that's no good for Oz, Parts will be expensive, even the fuel filter will have to be a Kia , My Headlights cost $18 each to replace ,
Now after all that , I hope she serves you
well and you will enjoy ,
Doug

The 2.5 is the first diesel offered, so can't go backwards in power. 125kw, 393nm - add a chip for 144kw, 458nm (V8 Toyota unchipped 151kw 430nm) The petrol goes backwards after having just gone forwards. But no-one wants a V6 petrol these days, always too thirsty now.
No electric 4wd select in the top 2 models, as they are said to be permanent 4wd. Probably electric low range select though.
The base model has 16"
wheels, so a spare set would be easy, but 17" is now common on Prado, etc. So if Toyota uses it, it must be good.
A leaky sunroof won't matter, because it never rains in AU.
Black leather won't bother me, because it will have sheepskin overlay.
I queried the man about the woodgrain and he was comfortable with how it looked, however he was a car salesman so all of what he said could be crap.
Haven't bought one yet, so can't enjoy.
If the shares keep going like they have it may
well be a Touareg by August. They have woodgrain too, and leather.
But I will definately check it out when it gets here.

Sounds like it is nearly the same specs as a Terracan, but seeing as Hyundai own them ....
well.........

The terracan doesn't have the same engine, but I think it shares some drivetrain.
The current model is the last - next one is a Kluger competitor with no low range.

Haven't heard what the replacement for the Terracan is going to be !!
But your right, no low range !!!!
Its gonna be very hard to get a 4x4 wagon with low range in approx 5 years time !!!!!
