Here is a great unit that will suit Hikers and Prospectors etc
RINO 520 combined UHF radio and GPS by Garmin, has transmit power of 5 watts for a good range too.
All this new stuff takes keeping up with,

Yeh mate, I see it has 10,000 trackpoints and up to 20 saved tracks to retrace user’s path ,
My Garmin Quest has 10,000 trackpoints thus giving it a 4000 + klm track recording so ...umm are ya gonna walk 4000klm and try it out and see if it guides ya back home again.....lol

Go on ...go for it big fella

I like the bit about it sending location info to a 2nd unit so you can see where your credit card is heading at the shopping centre or the 4WD show!

Looks like a great unit. Just wondering how much my Tax cheque will be this year.

hey i love the wrist GPS .. pity you can't replace the battery though as where do you find 240v to recharge it on those longer hiking trips (battery only lasts 15hrs)

Garmins can cater for all-comers , even someone who wants to carry a pocket full of batteries on a walk over 15 hours, and what do you do with flattened ones, throw them in the bush ????? ,normal batteries in any GPS only last a few hours at the most so you would be back to square 1 , If I were in a position to be walking over 15 hours I would not run it all the time , Why would you, anyhow if you really need a normal AAA powered GPS then here ya are ,

I was just wondering how accurate these wrist GPS's would be , what I mean is in Distance covered, I know that my Quest detects a movement so quick when holding it in the hand , I wonder would the Wrist type detect the arm swing and record the backward movement of the arm, I would tend to maybe fix it to the hat / head ...............lmao,... then when you got DIZZY it will record the head spin just before you go C*** up in the dust,
