Is there any site around that gives a one stop source of what permits are required and how/where to get them. If not, has it been suggested to exploroz that maybe this could be provide on this site. I raise this because we want to travel the GCR and have just found out, off this forum, that 3 permits are needed to drive what is to become a major hiway
Thanks, Geoff

No one group seems to cater for all permits. The good news is that most of them are free ! The GCR is a piece of cake if it hasn't rained, and if Popeye is still grading the NT part. Just take care on the bends on the western side of Warberton where a few people have come to grief.
It's a great drive, enjoy.

Look in the Treks pages for information on permits required.

If you can get hold of a copy of the latest(April) issue of theNetwork News put out by VKS-737 HF RADIO, there is a very good article on permits required while travelling in Aus.

Even the Heritage Listed Paj would have trouble snatching that!

Looks like a interesting trip.

Geoff C

www.bushtel.nt.gov.au/

It give information about all communities in the Northern Territory and where to obtain permits. Unfortunately it won't help you anywhere else.

Yes, thanks darcla, I thought I needed a permit to get from Mt Augustus to Tom Price by the track which loops to the East through what my map shows as aboriginal land, but it doesn't appear on this site so I probably don't need one.
