If your is DID Auto only fit the factory size tyres .As there has been allot of talk in the pajero club that oversize tyres cause the lockup converter not to lock up .I found that BFG have a factory sized tyres to suit but i found they were to noisy for me (A/T).I now have bridgestone 694A/Ts fitted and they still have more noise than the factory Yoko Go 39s.I tow a ft van on and off road and find the 694s wear and handle very
well. The Pajero doesn't have a separate chasis and i think this is why the tyres sound noisy but this is my opinion. All A/t Tyres will be noisy compared to H/T tyres .My advice get your tyres where you can swap them if your not happy after road testing them on your Pajero (The big tyres shops).

pojo,
I endorse what Markcas just wrote. There has been problems with the converter not locking up when using oversize tyres or tyres that are not standard size. I also have Bridgestone AT's 694 and find them very good. A friend had Coopers on his Pajero but took them off when he had a big scare on wet roads while towing the van, the front tyres kept loosing traction when cornering. 4wd monthly magazine recently done a
test on popular AT tyres and the results are worth reading. www.4wdmonthly.com.au/tips_tyres.php Have a look at this article and it should answer all of your questions.

I have the NP series Paj and use Yokohama. I have found that you need to keep the same size otherwise the speed rating goes astray.
Yokohamas are about as quiet as you will get with the NM/NP and they last. I cleared 72,000Km las set and that included the Cape, Beaches, Tracks and Bitumen.
At around $260 per tyre makes distance for dollar a good value. Need to keep them rotated, balanced and properly aligned front and rear. Go to a dedicated 4WD alignment centre (If in NSW go to Narellan)
