G'day all,

as some of you may have gauged, i'm a bit of a romantic, sentimentalist, stuck in the mud staid piece of "what'll we do with...."

but this just occurred to me tonight while making pizza for the Gorgeous and me...

what is the one (or more) things that are special to you (when going bush) that if you left/forgot them would leave a hole in your jaunt. What is the thing that does not need to go on the list...? and let's leave alcohol off this please..

For me, it's my beat up old bush hat. I love it. It is bent, battered, stained, broken, busted, unappealing to the urban eye, smelly to some, whatever.....It is my second one of it's type and is (only) in it's eleventh year. It packs flat if need be, is a container to drink water out of, can kneel on it in hot or sharp ground to change a tyre etc. can have whatever side bent if the sun is hitting the eye....

anyway, for me, it's my hat, how about you mob?

(bloody hell the spell check picked up only one thing "G'day" what's wrong with that?

Cheers Kev

Good one Stefan! I buy the large baby (nappy changing) wipes for when we travel & they are big enough for a large 'lick & a promise' when you are half past human after travelling for hours and have to face other beings on the journey.

I do like to have a good book though when we go off road. Can't go to sleep without reading for a while.

One time I forgot my patented camp-designed fencing wire camp oven lid lifter. Nothing worked the same. I spent the time looking out for a stray bit of wire to make another.

G'day (I wonder if Davids Spellcheck is American?...lol)

I have a checklist and seldom forget things.

The most annoying thing to forget though is matches!! Or a new battery for the favourite torech!!!

I suppose I would feel uncomfortable without my ExplorOz Cap!!(being follically challenged..that is!)

Cheers

Bushfix,

I have an old denim look shirt. It's a jacket when it's a bit chilly, it's a "dressing gown" for over the jama's in the morning, it's just my old favourite and I hate going away on a trip without it. I've had it for over twenty years. There's a song by Mary Chapin Carpenter about her old shirt with all it's memories...and that's just like mine. Many trips, many memories.

I can't leave home without my wife. Without her, I keep thinking I've gone deaf. Plus I'd never do anything right without her correcting me and I'd keep getting lost cos she is always telling me where to go.
Easily sums it up really.

That poor, long-suffering woman!!! She keeps TELLING you where to go.....but you never listen; you're still hangin' around like a bad smell!!!!

Do as she asks. After all, when you're with other like-minded folk (such as all of us on this forum), there is always plenty of people who are quite willing to tell you where to go Des......... hahahaha

Polaroid sunglasses. My journal for recording the trip. Good ol' fashioned paper maps that I can spread out on the camp table for exploring the area I'm going to.

My boat... Actually once I remembered the boat, but forgot the anchor. That was bad - very bad
Others are: Wallet, Letherman, Sunnies, Rossi's, Flouro light + extension cords, etc, etc. I could make quite a list here!!
