We are thinking of buying a coromal pioneer corvair. Is there anyone out there with any comments - positive or negative, please.

Hi Beema. We bought one about 12 months ago - 2nd hand - the PC511.
Traded our Coromal wind-up (Magnum) on it.
Our experience with Coromal (offroad units) has been brilliant - and we have given this one a good work out in the last 12 months.
Have 2 water tanks and 2 x 9kg gas bottles fitted.

As with all things in life, nothing is perfect. There are a very few (minor) things that may need some attention.
1. If you want to carry a spare wheel bearing/seal kit, you may find it hard to buy.
They are not your standard. The seal in particular. Had to ask BSC to get one in.
The bearings are monsters - so probably never need to replace them.

2. The frame/support under the seats needs strengthening (esp the cross supports).

3. The power supply is simply screwed to the ply wall. This needs a more solid bracket.

4. Had to refit one speaker, after dragging the van down a steep gully in a fossicking field.

5. The wiring to the fridge - just run new wires from the fridge to the battery.
The existing wiring goes through a schotty diode - which didn't work in the Magnum and also didn't work in our PC511. I think it is there to accommodate Solar Panels (for which the Van is already wired), but as I said - didn't work - twice.

Other than that, we absolutely love ours and can highly recommend them.
If you need any extra info, just ask.................Keith.
