Andrew, I have an Argyle SE. Very happy with it. Refer to thread 46247.

You've made a good choice.

Nearly as good as a KK, but you won't have any probs with it !!
Have friends who have recently bought a SE and while they are pretty happy with it, they have had a few "small " probs with theirs !!

When the water tanks are full, they overflow out the top vent when driving along( don't know how many litres are lost ?? )

When they flip over the base they need to peg the hard floor down to stop it lifting ??

The gullwing box hasn't got a vent filter ( and can't be fitted with one ) for dusty roads..

The pullout bench under the sink won't stay out ( no locking mechanism ?? )

The bed base is flimsy and needs a cross brace to strenghthen it ..

No gas struts on the front box lid ( now been fitted by the owner )

There is no doubt that you get what you pay for...

KK Platinum $43480
KK Limited $32810

Argyle SE $26000

All of your points above can be addressed by the purchaser for less than $6000.

As far as the bed base goes, I'm a big bloke, it's been christened. No mishaps.

Hi Gronk

As a new owner of an SE (1 week and 1 day) I agree with you about the struts for the front box, any chance to get some pics and or sizes of the struts your friends used.

Regards
Rocky

Hello Gone Bush
yeh you certainly get what you pay for, and I wasn't trying to be too critical of the Pioneer, but having camped with the two next to each other several times, it's easy to sit back and "kick tyres "......

And Rocky, I will try to get a photo ( or at least some specs ) this weekend (going away with our friends with the SE )
I see you are a member of my swag, so will post (maybe ) a photo on there !!!

Andrew

We are about to head off for our first weekend away everything seems to be OK although both water tanks are leaking a small ammount arround where the filler tube attaches. Hopefully I will be able to give you some feedback next week.

Andrew D,
I have an Argyle with the added gulwing box and have it for 18 months and have been to Birdsville and other shorter trips and it has been brilliant (one small problem that happened was the brake lines need to be covered with heater hose as the gibber destroyed the lines on the Birdsville trip).
You will love your purchase.

Peter

Ours delivered last week has some protection over the flexible brake lines, is this what you mean.

The factory stuff is sort of foam and its no good so had to change to heater hose.
