Further to previous thread on petition to keep southern end of Fraser open to 4WDs. The QLd Government has decided to close
the beach off to traffic. One hopes that major work will be done to the inland road (if not already done) if that is going to be the only way to travel the 18 or so km's. The letter can be seen at
Regards
Graeme

The Qld Govt will do whatever their mates with a $ want them to do. Joe Public has no say in it !

Got my reply to the petition today too.
Interesting they are promoting family beach camping and bird rookeries in the one section of the 18km stretch.
Never though inquisitive kids would let birds have a quite time in a rookery!
Never used the goat track, always managed to plan the tides to go around Hook Pt.
So next visit could be interesting.
A couple of slow cars, or a couple of soft roaders bogging could cause a major traffic jamb.
Remind me to be first of the barge, with low tyre pressures. Don't mind helping one or two every now and again, but friend told me of a horror story helping a ford territory (4wd) through, they left the snatch strap hooked up for the last 5km.

It was surprising that the minister's reply did not include any concessions at all and nary a recognition of the concerns of the petitioners.
She could have mentioned that an alternate route/detour would be prepared and when.
This omission makes me think that this will not be the last closure and more restrictions are in the pipeline.
