Does anyone have any recent information about this trek? I am looking at doing it in mid-January? What are the conditions like? Is there much traffic at that time of the year? Can I do the crossing from East to West in a single vehicle?

Hi James,
i think mid-January is too hot for this route. I'm also planning to do this, but in april next year, and i aks me, if this time is too hot for this. The Outback in January can become very hot. I travelled the outback once in January, never again...
