Reminds me of when the
Cherry Venture went aground on Fraser Island in the early 70's , I hope it doesn't suffer the same fate and breaks up before they can do something with it .

Cherry Venture Was wrecked on the mainland but has now been dismantled and removed, Maheno is on Fraser Island and has been since the 1930s I think.

Yes
Cherry Venture ran aground on
Rainbow Beach on the mainland , I can recall seeing the wreck from Noosa , and thought it was Fraser Island , thanks for bringing it to my attention :)

These photo's where taken between 11 and 12 on Friday, about 2 hours after she went aground.
In these shots you can see the two local Westpac Rescue Helicopters shuttling the crew off the ship.
It was that windy at times it was a physical challenge to just stand up in the stronger gusts, those guys where hovering helicopters in them! Amazing to watch these professionals in action!
Take note of the bend in the pine tree's in the first couple of photo's for gauge on the wind. The photo's are a little blurry quite simply because it was impossible to hold the camera still!
