Can anybody remember the going price for wiring your towing vehicle to electric brakes? We have had a quote of about $650 - includes all parts and labour. We are towing a camper trailer (already has electric brakes installed) just need our Toyota Prado V6 wired up.

Whoa - $650!!! I just had my Patrol wored up to tow my camper. I paid the auto elec $170 to fit the unit. I brought the Tekonsha Voyager brand new off ebay for $70. So all up only cost me $240. For the $170, the auto elec even ran the hotwire (constant power) for the camper.

depends on what sort of unit you have fitted ,but for the experienced it is fairly straight forwatd , try an auto electrician and ask if they have fitted them before, because the quote you got seems very high, unless there is some unusual problem fitting to your vehicle.

$400 for a Tekonsha Prodigy, new metal 7 pin socket, hot wire, circuit breakers and labour for the Pajero. Done by DRC Auto Electrics in Kyneton (Vic) last week.
Easy do-it-yourself job but I didn't have the time and had to pick up the camper on the weekend.
