Pegs for shade cloth floor

On our recent trip, we saw some great pegs for use on shade cloth and similar floors. They had a large round head, perhaps 50mm across, that sat down flush with the floor.

The size of the head gives good coverage on the shade cloth for strength and being flush, there is nothing to kick your toe on.

Trouble is, I didn't think to ask where they are from. Visited a couple of camping shops and they have never heard of them, but said 'what a good idea'.

Anyone familiar with these? What are they called, and where can I get them?

Could they be inlet and exhaust valves from the infernal combustion engine?

They weren't Duncs, but not a bad idea.
They had a smooth slightly rounded head (mushroom), and were only a few mm high off the floor. Think they were black.
I suspect they also had a concave shape underneath (but not sure of this) as I think some were pegged through eyelets and they were still flush with the flooring.

Good one FR. Thought of that, but not very long, so might not work in soft / sandy soil. Or are there 6 inch roofing nails??? Similar idea, but the ones I saw had a much bigger head and (I suspect) a much longer peg.

Hi normmc

I hadn't thought about it until this post, but we have very similar on the kids wet and wild water slide.... the type used on the back lawn where the kids run and slide down it.

I will try the local Clarks Rubber or similar and let you know.

cheers

normc,
We have been using Roofing nails as mentioned above,to hold down shade cloth at the front of our caravan/ tent for 10 years in all types of soil or sand and have never had any trouble at all.

Another option is to punch and crimp eyelets through the shadecloth, then use standard tent pegs.

An eyelet kit is cheap and available from most hardware stores. Bunnings have them for sure.
