Well I finally got another job done phewwwwwwwwww. It would have been so much easier without the assistance of MURPHY you know the fella who seems to travel around and visits most people from time to time
A simple task figured a couple of hours to drill 6 holes, fit clamps and then fit bolts and tighten, glue end, fit screw cap and security chain sounds simple, or so I thought.
Firstly I cut the tube to length checked where it was going to fit then worked out what I needed so gathered all the bits and pieces in a tray so I had everything at hand.
Sit down and mark my first two holes drill pilot hole and then larger hole excellent clamber under vehicle very little room next set done final set hmmm this is a tad harder shockie and exhaust in bad spot and I had to reach a little to get hole drilled MURPHY figured he would help and the drill bit and jammed my figures into the shockie, a yelp, blood and swear words emitted from under the vehicle just as an elderly lady walked past (sorry lady) I was working in my driveway.
Now to fit the tube, once again MURPHY felt he did a excellent job with the fingers felt it best to render more help. I had 3 bolts I had to feel into position and push into the hole, hold bracket and then get the nuts on, I was cramped and very little room to move. To get centre nut on I had to partly lay down to allow my arm to reach over top of the tube taking small spanner while the other hand uses and extension on a ratchet with bolt in it and at the same time sit back up to reach with bolt. Get in the right spot and fiddle around fitting
the nut and I drop nut SH^T last seen rolling down the driveway. Get another nut out of tray do the above in reverse and then repeat and I then drops the blood^y spanner and YEP it bounces just out of reach (count to 10) so exit position in reverse of above, drag my butt from under vehicle. While out pick up nut. Go have stress drink (two). I repeat the above once more at least this time I did not drop the spanner for the centre hole. Fitting the front similar positional movements required but the rackets had three extensions to enable me to get access which of course I managed to drop with one of the extensions rolling down the driveway (more swear words) and once again crawl out from under vehicle. More stress drinks.
I cannot count the number of times I had to crawled out from under the vehicle I even had the spanner on a cord attached to my arm didn't look like dropping it again (go figure) but dropped everything else plenty. AHHHHHHHHH
In the end a little over 5 hours and all done, looks great, of course by this time wife does not come near me neighbours have taken kids inside and advised them to stay away from the nasty man (Pitbull) under the vehicle.
I have blood and bark off everywhere temperament is frayed and I'm in need of many drinks.
I hate MURPHY anyone want a lone of him for a bit I've had enough for now I would really hate to hog him ......... I have many more jobs to do and I'm afraid he may stay :(:(
Need another drink
Brian

Brian,
Murphy, in my opinion is a bloody good reason for those stress drinks......
I generally don't mind these days how long it takes to do a job on a car...... Don't do it all that often anymore, but when I do, am generally pretty happy by the time am finished.
Was dissapointed when it only took 1 bourbon (20 mins) to do a medium service on the ute the other day. I wanted it to take at least 4 bourbons

Thanks Brian - I needed that.
Was running a power cable and anderson plug to the back bumper today and Murphy decided to visit and, of course, to help.
"Do you think you can get that grommet back in it's hole when it has two 6 B&S wires through it?" he asked rhetorically. "It needs a bit of assistance with the small screwdriver," so he proceeds to knock the only last remaining clod of GRR mud that was stuck up there behind the read guard with the end of said screwdriver and to drop it - the clod of mud, right in my face and eyes and hair.
Reminded me of last time Murphy came around when I was under the car - he dropped a 10mm ring spanner in my eye from just above the rear diff and gave me a black eye. Before Murphy I didn't think of a 10mm ring spanner as particularly dangerous.
Cheers
Andrew.

Hi Andrew.
We also had a visit from Mr. Murphy on the weekend. He helped wire up the anderson plug & 7 pin plug on my friends ute & trailer.
He must be the most underpaid tradie in Aust.
Regards.
Vince

He's a bastard that Murphy.
Bit like Father Christmas in that he can visit everyone at the same time on the same day.

Well thanks for that .... at least I now know he's a social fella prepared to lend his talents to many other worthy people I feel in this lull at my expense and I'm not a worthy recipient (hopefully) and he has moved on to greener pastures.
So I'm going to sneak off and make my porta shi^ter if I don't return MURPHY'S returned and I've severed something or arrested for public disturbance.
As I see it now anything I touch is a potential weapon and at any second is about to inflict injury to one self. I will also watch 10mm ring spanners.
