Anyone tripping around on the Savannah Way , take a quick trip in to Lorella Springs. We ducked in there for 3days & stayed 10.
We were very warmly greeted upon our arrival, by the new managers,Rob & Darlene. Told to set up where you please, there are flushing toots & showers.
Many a relaxing 'happy hour or 2" was spent in the natural spring near camp after spending the day exploring or fishing.
We took an interesting 4 1/2 hr - 70 k drive to the fishing camp & had a ball spinning 1mtr long Queenies off the bank.
Interested???? Look up www.lorellasprings.com.au
The last frontier with a hint of comfort.

Hi StephenF,
In 2005 when we were there it cost us $20.00 night with a family of 4 people.
We also agree that it is a very appealing place as we headed in to stay one night and stayed 3 nights but did not venture to the fishing camp as our camper needed some miner repairs at this stage of our trip.

Regards

Hi Stephen F,
Cost this year is $15/ person, but if you have a Camps 3 or 4 there is a discount with it. It sounds dear but it was very worth the money with the facilities & springs only a 50 m wander.
Beer can be purchased over the bar.
Tell the managers that Barraman sent you & you'll be looked after.

Moser,
Our rig is a Nissan Patrol with an off road caravan.
Both have high ground clearance, we went in early in the season so the road in from the turnoff (off the Savannah Way) was still a bit rough, this gets sorted as the season progresses.

Hi Barra - Also heading that way next week.
What was your rig (4by and van/camper);?
Did you continue on to Roper Bar, and if so how was the road?

Hi keith
no we did not go on to roper bar , however friends travelling with us did & the road was rough in places but quite good for what it is.
Sorry the rest of your posting is above.
Tell Rob at Lorella that Barraman sebt you & that Rob would ensure you would catch a barra. Also make sure you see the photos at the bar of my "swamped" (litereally) fourby .

Barraman, other than the day you went to the fishing camp, where did you fish? In the fresh water section of the river?

We were up that way just a couple of weeks ago. We spent 6 weeks at King Ash Bay (had planned on staying one or two weeks). Lorella Springs was on my 'to visit' list, but we did not get there.

The track to the Fishing Camp sounded a bit rough for the Hilux with boat on top and towing the CT. I figured the fishing was probably better where we were and with ready access to the salt water.

We'll get to Lorella one day though.

Norm C , at the fishing camp it was actually still freshwater but as the season progresses it does go to a more salt water tidal situation, as it is only 13 k from the mouth.
You would get through with your rig if you had another vehicle with you.
We followed 2 Bravos back , with boats on & they were fine. Needed a winching up one sand hill that hadn't been cleaned up yet.
Rob ( manager ) will take you down there on organised fishing / tag along ( there is a charge)
As far as fishing from the main camp- Lorella. there is 5 good size billabongs the first within about 5 k , & the last about 17k. There is also the Freshwater slide ,waterfall, & a cool safe swimming hole, apart from the hot springs just 50 mts from your camp.
