We are planning a trip this July to Alice via the
Plenty Highway and like the look of Arltunga as a detour. We will be towing an Outback Jayco Hawk (about 1 tonne) behind a Prado.
Can anyone advise us about the
Cattlewater Pass Track - is it OK for towing a Jayco - apparently there are some steep sections and very boggy if wet? Alternatively, we could come down
the Pinnacles Track to the west and then travel east to Arltunga through The Garden - would that be a smarter choice?
Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks

Yep, no real problem. I have towed
mine up the
Cattlewater Pass track twice now. Not a hard track, but a bit bumpy so take it slow. Only one steep section and that is not vey long. Could be boggy on the southern end if there has benn some rain (more than just a shower). Qiute a pleasent drive really. As you'll be quite close, go to Ruby
Gorge - very pretty spot. One of my favourites.

I'ce travelled
Cattlewater Pass twice - last time was 2005. I don't think you'll have any issues if its dry.

Just driven down
the Gardens Road & Pinaacles track - both fine for caravan & very pretty. Wouldn't go Cattlewater as need an off road camper. Arltunga great even if was minus 2 on weekend. Cheers Heather

Thanks very much everyone - looks like we'll go
the Pinnacles. Looking forward to what sounds a great spot.

We towed our Ultimate out from Arltunga over the pass a couple of eyars ago. If dry - no problems for an offroad trailer. And I second the comments about Ruby Gap - one of our favourite spots.
