Well howdy,
I have been chasing a solenoid switch for a starter motor for a FJ 80. Although this part is shewn in the Toyota spare parts list complete with its own part number I was told that Toyota no longer sell the solenoid as a separate item. Any advice from you guys would be appreciated.

Thank you

P.S. I have tried Repco and Coventrys

Hi Ray
If it's what I think the contacts not making contact with the poles because they have burnt away over time, you can build them up with silver solder & they will last for years. Or you should be able to get a new one through a good auto sparkie.

Virtualy all auto electricians could rebuild this for you if the problem is contacts burnt out. When I worked on the tools I rebuilt many solenoids.. or replaced the U/S ones with non genuine units from Ashdowns and the like.

You should be able to source the solenoid contacts via an auto electrician. Its an easy job to remove the solenoid cover to replace the burnt contacts.
