Dear All
Can anyone recommend a good caravan park to stay at in
Alice Springs?
Also, if there's more than one at
the Rock, which one is the go?
Thanks
Spliney

Spliney,
We like McDonnell Ranges Caravan Park in Alice. We've stayed there a few times and found it very good. On the way
home last year we decided to go for an ensuite site and that was excellent, very roomy and amenities great. The other amenities for powered/unpowered sites are of top quality as
well. There is a pool and games room and the people are very
well informed on all tours and activities in Alice and surrounds.
At
Yulara (Ayers
Rock) there is just the one caravan park so you have no choice.
All the best
Viv

Hi Viv
Just wondering where the park you mention is, can't find it on the street directory I have, is it the BIG 4 park on the way South out of town ?

Agree stayed at the Mac a couple of times. At
Yulara you will be ok in a camper but the tent sites are pretty average. About 2.5k outside of
the settlement and still on the Lassetter Hwy at the last
rest stop before you hit the turn-off into
Yulara, where the sun shades and seats are, if you take the track, (presume it's still there), over the dune at the side of the
rest stop, the track will take you into a grove of Dessert Oaks. People where camping here last July. Looked a nice spot; don't know what the tollerance level of the local rangers would be like though?

Spliney,
As an alternative to the above, we stayed at the Wintersun Caravan Park on the Stuart Hwy just north of the centre of Alice, and found it to be very good. Lots of shade tress, good grass sites, and good facilities. Can recommend Wintersun.
Cheers, Mark.

Thanks Hairy, it is the one I thought it was. Have never stayed there, but will be in Alice in September and will give them a try.
Thanks ;-)

Hi Spliney
1...Yes West Mcdonald Rangers is the only place to stay and is a big 4 very clean and they go out of there way to make you comfortable, the Windmill restraunt has lovely meals it is just at the end of the road.
2...Well there is only one park at the Rock and there is no grass (
the pool is nice though).
3...Bying Grog you can buy it there a six pack per person per day not cheap best to take it from alice
Have fun enjoy your trip

Hi Spliney
I can't remeber the name of the one is Alice I stayed at but its about 2 km west of central
Alice Springs - OK .... Stay in the West MacDonald Ranges - It's so much better.
As for
Yulara - don't bother as the caravan parks are over crowded and noisy... I just snuck into the park at night and camped in the bush... Didn't pay
the entrance fee and had a better sleep without the generators next to you... Pretty cold this time of year so take the thermals!!!
Cheers, Will
