Pesty has put up a post ("Huge oil slick.........etc") in which he briefly mentioned the fact that we were on our way back from Glendambo when my "incident" occurred.

What heir Pesty failed to mention was the results of the races.

There were about 11 entrants for the weekend's events. 3 x Nissan (including a Maverick), 6 x Toyotas of various vintages, a Range Rover and a Jeep Wrangler.

After the rounds leading up to the finals, the placings were Maverick, Nissan, Nissan, Toyota, Jeep, Range Rover, then the rest of the Toyotas.

The finals were meant to be contested by the 5 top vehicles. Unfortunately, the best placed Toyota and the Jeep were not in good enough condition to compete in the finals, so they raised the Rangie and one of the other toyotas from positions 6 & 7 to contest the finals.

In the finals, one of the Nissans was eliminated when they hit a huge hole just a bit too hard.

So that reduced it to 4 contestants.

And the winners are:

1st......Nissan GQ 4.2 TD (virtually bog stock.....used to go to church most Sundays)
2nd.....Maverick GQ 4.2 Petrol
3rd..... Range Rover
4th......Toyota shorty 40

I may have slightly exaggerated about the 1st place Nissan. I think it may have had some after-market suspension.......;-))

Yeh, exageration is the word, the only thing nissan/maverick was the shape of the body panels, and then they all lost there head lights, and too be fair, as I always am, most of the others were too, but the winner was decided by the nuttiest driver with the most disregard for his vehicle, but it was fun to watch.

Cheers Pesty

Something about the old 40 series still going and competing. The Maverick is only a boy, the Rangie is a young lad and I suspect yours is still in your hand...LOL. Dream on Roachie!! Cheers

All fairly standard placings in any event I have seen.

I am a bit surprised at the Rangie, did they have Glen Davis as their mechanic to keep it running, or was it running GQ gear under the shell LOL.

Good onya for giving it to the "other" brigade.

Proud Nissan owner.

I can understand why the Nissan/Maverick combos were so successful.
The had Mr roach as their team managers and he had instructed them all to drop as much oil on the track so no one else could get traction.
That's why the blokes in the shorty 40 were so helpful cos they knew what the problem was and had turned the tables on you. They were only there to gloat.
