Hello People, My wife and I are looking at buying a current model Mazda BT 50 4x2
in either a dual or freestyle cab. They both have the three litre intercooled turbo common rail motor. I have read various reports by motoring journalists
on these vehicles but would like to talk to an owner or two or three before we actually spend our hard earned dollars. We intend to use it as a work vehicle and to tow a 16 foot pop top van with it. The van has a loaded weight of 1450 Kg & a ball weight of 145 Kg. both of which are
well within the vehicles rated towing capacity.
Some feedback from any current owners or other
forum members would be greatly appreciated.

As you have already stated, you have read reports from motoring journals.
But,
Have you read the latest 4WD Monthly,
The BT 50 came 1st in their 2007 Ute comparo
and
The Ford
Ranger came second.
It was a good read IMO.
Cheers Kev

Hi Barry. Do not own a BT50 , but have owned earlier models and have had no end of head problems. A tetras contractor in a 4x2 current mod tray back parked beside me in a car
park about a month ago, I asked him how he liked the vehicle ?, His reply was " Great ute mate', except for the head gasket problem!!
So it seems to me some things never change with bloody Mazda.
I would do a thorough research before parting with those hard earned bucks!
Cheers Axle.

Was that the petrol or the oiler?
Bet it was the petrol.
The common rail oiler has only been in the new BT series and by all reports it's a B Beauty.

Hi
I bought a 4x4 dual cab bt-50 It tows my 15ft boat no worries. Also is good on fuel it uses just under 10lt/100.If buying the base model i would recomend you buy the centre console as it is very handy.
