you will need to go into the setup menu and change the interface setting from GARMIN to NMEA before it will work

Peejay, I've got a Garmin Map 76 and all I do is set my GPS to garmin, transfer the information between Ozi and the GPS and then when I want to use the moving map switch the GPS to NMEA. With these earlier GPS's like the 72 and Map76 I've that this is the best if not the only way to do it.

A few possibilities:
#1 In the GPS "interface" I need to have my Garmin 2+ set to "None to NMEA"
#2 In oziexplorer you need to press "ctrl + S" to start the moving maps.
#3 If you are using a serial to USB converter, then the GPS needs to be turned off when the computer is booted, and you need to enter the correct COM port (often COM5 or 6) into the Oxiexplorer Configuration.
#4 The GPS needs to have a satellite fix for the arrow to appear on the screen.

And like Bonz said above, need to change to the "GRMN to GRMN" interface on the GPS to upload waypoints and tracks between GPS and computer.
Theres a way around this, which someone told me about, but I soon forgot it.

Have you got the right com port , look in Device Manager and look in Ports.
Not all Serial to USB convertors will work 100%

You don't have to use NMEA with Oziexplorer for moving map if you have a Garmin GPSr.
In Ozi's moving map configuration, tick the 'Use Garmin PVT' box and Moving map will read the position from the GRMN protocol output - that way you don't need to switch protocols when you want to upload/download tracks or waypoints.
