Hello .....I'm back , Just had the Bigpond wireless modem installed , when I logged onto EO it was shockingly slow, ,anyhow I decided to set up the laptop for the modem and noticed it was lightning fast, so come to the conclusion it was the USB port , I had it in the slower port, swapped it over to another and wow did that make a difference, So if there are others who think it is slow, change to another USB port.

Yes - I have also noticed this with
mine.
If you have several USB ports on a PC, particularly some on front and some on back, then they may have different connections to the main system bus. The speed difference in those connections can be dramatic. Can also be an issue if you use an external USB hub.
By the way Doug, insurance claim for my old knackered GPS approved and a NUVI660 is on it's way!
Cheers
Muddy

Doug, perhaps you also have a USB 1.1 port on the other computer too. I see that was on a previous (to the laptop setup) computer.
I have one of the desktop modems with an external antenna and found it wasn't good on the network. Apparently they will have an ethernet connection soon to plug into a router that will make life easier that way. The ethernet connection should work with any of the USB Maxon modems according to the Maxon site
forum.
Doug, not sure if you have had yours hang? They have had a habit of it apparently as
mine has. Have to reset them by pressing the reset or turning off the power to the modem.
Because the software to dial seems to need attendance I only have the laptop connected. Sometimes it goes through the network for the ISDN internet and sometimes through Next G. Next G is maxed at 256 here to keep costs lower.
