I have a Lock Right in the landcruiser and they also make them for the Patrol. Fit it in the front as the Patrol has a very good LSD in the rear. That way you only activate the locker when the front hubs are engaged. The Lock Right is really an automatic unlocker as it holds the diff locked until it needs to be open then auto relocks itself. They are not expensive, about $600, and are easy to fit yourself if you are mechanical or not too exxy if you have to pay someone. Throughly reccommend them.

Had a few sorts here Everydog - and I would go straight for ARB locker in the cars front without question.
The rear locker is of value but much less so.
If cost is an issue then lockers are almost as effective as a set of chains at $89.

Mate,
Had a Lockrite in the Front of my last Patrol and it was very good though it did have some down sides. When you engaged 4wd the locker was locked on the front end and steering was very annoying though you do learn to adjust your driving to compensate. So with an Auto Locker such as the Lockrite it is engaged all the time in 4wd whether you need it or not.....
My new Patrol I have put an ARB Air Locker in the front and it wins hands down as you have the option to engage only when needed thus being able to maintain steering control. Down side is cost. They are over twice the price of a Lockrite or similar......
IMO, go Air Locker if money isn't a big issue or save a little long for it....

Wouldnt bother with any of the Kmart ones.... Go straight to ARB or the TJM locker without question.. You control it, it doesnt control you...
