Dear Ger,
I felt it impolite to intrude further into the original thread.
Suffice to say that my old 2.4 L Isuzu has survived two blown water hoses. Sure, blows smoke, but still runs.(No longer my vehicle, but still locally run).
To blow a hose on my (almost) current motor would possibly incur severe financial burden.
My point is that the more 'civilised' our vehicles become, the less the chance of rectifying a fault if a user-friendly computer is unavailable.
No, I'm not about to swap my 2001 Rodeo(Thai built) for a Mahindra. But then again, I probably wouldn't swap it for much at all these days.
Regards,
Jeff.

I actually think they have a place. I wondered about the nice long ute with a camper body, but the highway performance power wise is very poor - imagine trying to overtake with a headwind - wouldn't be possible......The power band -- er that should read torque band - is super narrow according to the test I read. Outside 2000-2400rpm there's basically nothing.

To meet Euro IV they use a common rail system which means they use the type of fuel pump which will destroy itself if you run out of fuel. Then the repair will cost probably the same as the other high tech ones people on the forum have been aghast at - around $4000-$5000

For feeding stock or general farm use I reckon they'd be excellent, or plodding around remote areas.
